Islamic Finance news Asia Forum 2013
Expanding the Realms of Islamic Finance

As the world looks towards Asia to act as an anchor to balance the global economic turbulence, there is much expectation from its diverse and dynamic markets. Asian countries are expected to play a pivotal role for their near stable economies and ability to bounce back quickly. According to the IMF, this year, emerging markets account for more than half of the world’s GDP on the basis of purchasing parity. The growth which picked up after the slowdown in the first half of 2012 is remarkable for the emerging markets and has transformed the global economy in many ways. As the growth in emerging markets and developing economies is expected to rise to 5.6% in Q4, 2013 compared to the world output of around 3.5%, Asian markets are expected to play an important role in sustaining the world growth.

Concurrently, the growth of Islamic finance in this environment has been significant. With an increasing number of jurisdictions amending their laws to accommodate Islamic finance in one way or another, the future looks set for the industry stakeholders to cash in on the opportunities at stake. Major economies of Asia are strengthening their Islamic finance markets with amendments in their laws and regulations and improving ties with the industry leaders.

With increasing innovation in its products, knowledge sharing, Shariah expertise and market coverage, the Islamic finance market is poised for robust growth. Malaysia, the host country to the IFN 2013 Asia Forum has been termed as the World's Islamic Finance Marketplace and has led by example to take the industry to the next level. The country has invited the global financial community to collaborate with and mutually benefit from its robust and comprehensive regulatory, supervisory, Shariah and legal frameworks.

Through a series of exclusive regulatory country presentations, practitioner-led round-table discussions, non-debatable power presentations, original case studies and sector focused side sessions, the IFN Asia Forum in 2013 will again be the key, must-attend industry event for issuers, investors, regulators and all financial intermediaries involved in the Islamic financial markets with an interest in the Asian markets.
