John Yip has varied experience in equity, debt, mergers and acquisitions and Islamic investment banking, having been General Manager of regional corporate finance at RHB Securities — covering the Arabian Gulf region, a structured finance partner at The International Investor (a Kuwait based and Arabian Gulf focused Islamic investment bank) where he originated a Islamic finance scheme for the Saudi Arabia Export Fund Program.
At UOB Asia, he structured and arranged the first Islamic bonds issuance out of Singapore for Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura.
Yip was Managing Director of a boutique mergers and acquisition advisory firm, to originate, structure and place Shariah compliant strategic stakes in targeted companies in the East and Southeast Asia for acquisition by Arabian Gulf business interest.

Robin Cheok is the Managing Partner of Cheok Advocates & Solicitors. He graduated from the University of Essex with an LLB Hons in 1993, and was called to the Bar of England & Wales and Brunei in 1995. Cheok was made a Commissioner for Oaths in Brunei in 2000 and has been in practice for the last 14 years.
In 2003, he entered the securities and finance scene and went on to pursue formal training in Islamic banking and finance through the Masters in Islamic Banking and Finance course at the University of Brunei Darussalam.

Stephen Grundlingh is Regional Head: Southeast Asia and Country Head of Templeton Asset Management (Singapore). In this position, he is responsible for Franklin Templeton’s business activities across Southeast Asia.
He joined Franklin Templeton Investments in 1996 during which time he has held various positions within the firm. Prior to his relocation to Singapore in April 2006, he was head of Franklin Templeton's African business, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Before joining Franklin Templeton, Grundlingh worked for South Africa’s Department of Foreign Affairs, where he served in diplomatic posts in both London and New York between 1990 and 1996.

Tai Boon Leong is presently Executive Director with the Managing Director’s Office, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) undertaking special duties.
He joined MAS in 1986 as a Central Banking Officer after graduating from the National University of Singapore with an Honors degree in Engineering. In 1988, he was posted to the International Department (now re-named Reserve and Monetary Management Department) where he rose to the post of Director in charge of the Japan and US Fixed Income Divisions.
From 1999 to 2001, Tai was the MAS New York Representative. Upon returning to Singapore, he headed the Internal Audit Department and the Finance Department which oversees the Authority’s budget, financial accounts and reporting, safe custody and settlement, and financial risk management.
Tai is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the Singapore Society of Financial Analysts and the CFA Institute. In 2005, he was awarded the Public Administration Silver Medal.

Zarina Begam’s involvement in the financial industry began with the formation of Syarikat Takaful in 1996. Under the ambit of Keppel Insurance at that time, she expanded her practice as a Corporate Adviser and later moved into the independent financial advisory sector before settling with Phillip Securities.
She was Secretary and one of the key movers for the Financial Shariah Advisory Committee (FSAC) which was initiated by PERGAS in 2007. Currently she sits on the Islamic Financial Services Consultancy Unit (UKKI) in PERGAS.
Presently, Zarina is involved in the development of financial profit models for social enterprise & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects with PPIS (Singapore Muslim Women Association) where she serves as the Director for Resource Development.

Alhami Mohd Abdan is presently the Head of International Finance & Capital Market at OCBC Al-Amin Bank.
He joined the investment banking division of OCBC Bank (Malaysia) in April 2004 and was responsible for the development of the bank’s Islamic capital market activities. Alhami was seconded to OCBC Al-Amin Bank in 2009 to spearhead the development of the regional Islamic finance business.
Prior to OCBC, he was with several other merchant/investment banks from 1994 onwards, in the areas of corporate banking, structured finance and capital market, where he was responsible for origination, structuring and execution functions for a variety of corporate funding and private debt and Islamic securities issuances.

Chan Cheh Shin has more than 16 years of experience in managing global fixed income mandates and foreign currency strategies.
During his tenure as Director of APS Komaba Asset Management and as Associate Director of DBS Asset Management — he headed the quantitative global credit research and investment division, and was responsible for global high yield and emerging management in the areas of credit research and investment as well as global high yield / emerging market investment.

Hooman Sabeti-Rahmati is a consultant in Allen & Overy's Singapore office. He has extensive experience in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the US in a wide range of capital markets transactions.

Kevin Chan joined BNP Paribas Investment Partners Malaysia in June 2008 as a Investment Specialist with the Structured, Indexed and Asset Allocation team focusing primarily on its Southeast Asian businesses.
Prior to that, Chan was the Head of Structured Investments at TA Securities Malaysia. He also previously worked with Merrill Lynch & Co in New York for more than seven years as a Treasury Analyst. As Representative Director for Moody’s Investors Service Singapore (Moody’s), Christina Maynes heads Moody’s Singapore office and leads a multinational team of business development professionals responsible for corporate, financial services and structured finance ratings in Asia ex-Japan.

Chen Mee King is a Singapore-qualified lawyer with extensive experience in both conventional banking as well as Islamic finance. She is the primary Legal Counsel as well as Company Secretary of The Islamic Bank of Asia Limited. Professor Michael Furmston is an internationally–acknowledged authority on contract and commercial law. The author of the leading textbook Cheshire Fifoot & Furmston on Contract (15th edition 2006) and Editor of the Construction Law Reports since 1985, his published work extends to 18 books and many articles, chapters and other contributions. An eminent academic, he has taught at Oxford, where he was a Fellow of Lincoln College, and at Bristol, where he was Dean of the Faculty of Law and Pro Vice Chancellor. Professor Furmston was called to the English Bar in 1960 (Gray’s Inn) and has been a Bencher of Gray’s Inn since 1989.
