Islamic Finance news Roadshow in Australia
Expanding the Realms of Islamic Finance

Australia’s present government – under the reign of Kevin Rudd, has in recent months produced a booklet on Islamic finance prepared by the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) and has expressed immense interest in tapping the Asian and Middle Eastern market.

Banks, law firms and financial institutions have also begun to rev up their Islamic finance capabilities, with much encouragement from the government. Zain El Hassan, Islamic finance partner at Melbourne-based law firm Clayton Utz revealed that the current government is seriously looking into developing free trade agreements with countries in Asia and the Middle East, and becoming an Islamic finance hub in the Asia Pacific region is part of the plan.

For this reason, on the 14th May Islamic Finance news will host the first Australian IFN Roadshow at the Mallesons Stephen Jaques’ office in Sydney.

Designed to generate ideas and fresh views to help practitioners develop new or alternative ways to improve their business, this roadshow aims to explore and analyze the latest developments in the Australian Islamic financial market.

This is a free-to-attend one-day event open to those with an interest in understanding more about the Islamic finance industry in Australia and further afield.

Ken Waller, Director at the MAFC and Australian APEC Centre will be delivering the key-note address, and will be followed by 19 key industry practitioners from around the region participating in a series of open round-table discussions.

Delegates are invited to interact via regular question and answer sessions and during the networking sessions designed to assist in the development of the Islamic finance market in Australia.

Organized by the REDmoney Group, the Roadshow is visiting 16 cities across Asia, the Middle East, North America and Europe. Following this event the Roadshow will travel to Egypt (9th June) and Turkey (11th June).
