Values-Based Banking
Creating Competitive Advantage and Delivering Value for Society
Two-Part Online Training Program

Date:  9th & 10th December 2020

Download Brochure

WHY THIS PROGRAM?

Banks providing products and services to individuals and enterprises are critical to the functioning of a modern economy. Values-based banking — a focus on clients in the real economy delivering economic resiliency, environmental regeneration and social empowerment — provides real value to the communities in which a bank operates. There is increasing evidence that this focus, when genuinely embedded in a bank, delivers superior financial returns for investors.

However, many banks lack the knowledge, expertise and tools to devise and deliver values-based banking. Traditional training for banks has primarily focused on financial analysis with limited or no training on how banks impact society through the products and services they provide. Furthermore, banks have tended to put themselves at the centre of their work rather than focusing on banking as a support function for the individuals and enterprises they serve. The objective of this program is to demonstrate an alternative path: that of incorporating values-based banking effectively into the strategy of a financial institution.

The first part of this timely, relevant online course will address what values-based banking is, why it is important and in what ways it can accrue benefit to financial institutions and their stakeholders. The second part of the program examines how strategies and activities of a bank can be built around a values-based approach, and how this will create positive impact and value.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

  • Through pre-reading, presentations and discussion this program will provide:
    • Understanding of the role of banking in today’s economy
    • A framework for a real economy banking focus
    • A framework for a values-based banking focus
    • Practical tools for embedding values-based banking in policies, procedures and daily activities
    • Insight into best practices among banks with a values-based focus
    • Insight into the business case for values-based banking
