2.00pm – 5.00pm
AICB 6 CPD Hours

Download Brochure

PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

This two-part exclusive program will provide attendees with detailed information and knowledge on capital planning under stressed conditions. As companies try and restructure their working capital through more prudent revenue management under the current global pandemic affecting most businesses, this course will seek to provide some comprehensive ideas and solutions on how organizations can manage their balance sheets in a more sustainable manner. There will be extensive practical solutions that can be implemented immediately in the shot-term and the use of Excel as a comprehensive tool and framework to be directly used on a day-by-day basis.

Macroeconomic scenarios are investigated from both an economic as well as time series (statistical) perspective. Margin at risk and liquidity stress testing will also be explored through the lenses of the traditional asset and liability management framework. Your expert program speaker, Dr Tiziano Bellini, will also explore the balance sheet both in terms of asset and liability projections as well as from a profit and loss viewpoint. On the latter, the focus is on pre-provision net revenues and credit loss projections with the impact on capital further examined through the lenses of stressed economic conditions.

WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY:

  • Gaining practical and hands-on knowledge of scenario analysis and implementation of best capital planning practices.
  • Developing stronger competence on asset and liability margin analysis and liquidity assessment strategies.
  • Attaining a comprehensive understanding of interaction between asset and liability management, profit and loss projection and capital management.

September has got off to a strong start for dollar September has got off to a strong start for dollar-denominated Sukuk, with issuance in the first week already matching the combined total raised in July and August.

Four benchmark Sukuk have been printed so far this month: the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB)’s US$1.5 billion offering, its second in 2026; Arab National Bank’s US$750 million Additional Tier 1 Sukuk; Kuwait International Bank’s (KIB) unsecured US$500 million paper; and the Saudi government’s US$3.25 billion Sukuk. The dollar pipeline is looking promising with alrajhi bank preparing to tap the market with a Tier 2 social Sukuk.

The Saudi government issuance is notable given that Fitch Ratings had said in July that it was not anticipating any new public external US dollar sovereign Sukuk in the second half of 2026, after Saudi Arabia concluded its funding plan. Malaysia’s US$1.5 billion return to the dollar Sukuk market in July was similarly notable, coming after a five-year hiatus.
