According to the Singaporean deputy prime minister, the country’s Islamic finance sector has experienced 19% growth since 2006, a strong indicator of a developing market. Over the last few years, Singapore’s Islamic finance industry has achieved significant milestones and various successes, including the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s US$145 million Sukuk issuance in 2009, Danga Capital’s US$600 million trust certificates and the establishment of Sabana REIT– the world’s largest Shariah compliant real estate investment trust by assets.
Singapore is also one of the top destinations for offshore funds, and is a regional leader in the funds industry; further fuelling the country’s potential to become the preferred hub for Islamic funds.
In recognition of these developments, Islamic Finance news (IFN) will host the Singapore IFN Roadshow on the 3rd April 2013 at Singapore Management University. This fully interactive event is designed to generate ideas, fresh views and concrete plans to exploit Islamic finance opportunities in the country.
The IFN Singapore 2013 Roadshow will bring to light topics such as: Laying the groundwork for long-term growth; Singapore’s role in facilitating cross-border Islamic investments; as well as case studies on Sabana REIT’s Sukuk Ijarah and Brunei Gas Carriers project financing facility. These issues will be discussed via panelist sessions, enabling attendees to gain a well-rounded perspective from a diverse range of speakers.

Covering a wide spectrum of topics pertinent to issuers and investors, the IFN Singapore Roadshow will see prominent industry players such as the Assistant Managing Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Ng Nam Sin; head of Islamic finance at the Capital Market Development Authority of Maldives, Aishath Muneeza; Ariff Sultan, the Asian regional director at Ideal Ratings; as well as director and head of Islamic banking at OSK Investment Bank, Yazit Yussuf; addressing timely topics on the development of the Singaporean Islamic capital markets. Delegates can interact via regular question and answer sessions as well as networking sessions.
